FOCAL’s 2015 SRBWI Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held on March 3, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rosa Parks Museum, Troy University Montgomery Campus, Montgomery, Alabama. Five women have been singled out for recognition by their communities and will be honored with an induction into the Alabama Southern Rural Black Women’s (SRBWI) 2015 Hall of Fame.
The Southern Rural Black Women’s Initiative for Social and Economic Justice (SRBWI) Hall of Fame was instituted in 2005, as a means of recognizing, documenting, and preserving the accomplishments of African-American women who have made significant contributions in and beyond their communities. Every two years Alabama’s SRBWI inducts five women into the SRBWI Hall of Fame. The goal of the initiative is to empower and educate rural black women to improve economic and social conditions in their communities.
