Communities Act To Create Hope (CATCH) was developed by the Federation of Child Care Centers of Alabama. During its history, FOCAL has worked with a broad variety of groups and organizations throughout the United States and abroad. In the process FOCAL evolved innovative leadership and community development approaches. The principles and strategies, as they apply to the care and development of young children, are documented in More Is Caught Than Taught: A Guide to Quality Child Care. The CATCH Program is the application of these tested and proven community development tools to a broader range of community groups and organizations.

The CATCH process brings together elements of strategic planning, community development, and racial healing. This comprehensive approach to change fully engages participants and brings to light the barriers that often sabotage successful community action. Participants learn to face and overcome both external and internal roadblocks. The process is transformative for individuals and communities, releasing the capacity for change and creating hope. The CATCH program helps communities identify their strengths, build on their resources, and achieve their goals. Groups of people experience both exhilaration and challenge as they engage in the CATCH process.

FOCAL provides training and certification for CATCH Facilitators.
